10-year age-gap akeshu AU in which, after an especially bad night, 16-year-old akira’s family situation has degraded so irreparably that he finally runs away to tokyo, like he’s always planned to. still in bad shape from his escape, he gets reluctantly picked up by a woman not that much older than him and recuperates at her apartment, where he meets her very hostile, very overprotective son.

it takes a while for 6-year-old goro to realize that akira isn’t one of his mother’s usual “clients”. despite akira’s flight-or-fight instinct button-mashing RUN out of fear of stagnating in one location for too long, in typical joker fashion, he stays with the akechi family to help them through hard times—praising and pampering goro when his mother is too tired to acknowledge him, and pulling mamakechi back to reality when she teeters between picking her poison: a rope hung from the rickety ceiling fan, a long, cold bath, a step off the balcony… he’d barged into their life a year before things would have broken permanently, and patiently patched up the cracks that would have deepened into permanent fissures. 

goro in particular takes a liking to the new addition in their household. akira is the only other person he has met who treats him so nicely and gently and attentively—even more so than his own mother. he always seems genuinely happy to see goro come home from school, and frequently offers to take goro out on “adventures” to tour museums, visit aquariums, pet the alley cats, and so on. with him around, goro doesn’t have to wait at the bathhouse anymore. he grows to revere akira as the darling guardian angel his mother had brought home just for him. 

in the end, having satisfied the selfless side of his nature, the selfish side has akira running away once again. he thinks his role has been fulfilled, and that he shouldn’t keep disrupting a family that isn’t his. he couldn’t have been more wrong.

and so, goro grows up with a doting mother and an awful, gaping hole where half of his heart should be. that is, until he meets a familiar stranger in Mementos—then again, in an innocuous coffee shop halfway across tokyo.

i guess another thing that I feel like might be worth sharing is that, like.

when my dad first passed, the only way I could cope was to block it out entirely. and i felt like i was losing my mind, but sometimes I’d literally have to tell myself shit like “that didn’t happen, he’s still here, everything is fine” to get through a busy day especially. and I was so scared to tell anyone that’s what I had to resort to. but my therapist told me it’s incredibly common. obviously at some point u have to come out of that and accept the reality of it, but that’s smth you can’t really force either. it’s okay to take however much time you need

our brains do weird things to cope and grieve. it’s okay. one step at a time. sometimes that means just coming up with a way to get through the next hour, sometimes even just ten minutes. I hate that so many people have to learn what this kinda thing feels like but at least we have each other. pls don’t be afraid to reach out to ppl in the community, and if you have the space to do so, check in on your friends rn. the little things go a long way, now more than ever.

I was looking at the line work you do and was wondering: do you ink it physically and then scan it, or is it fully digital? It's really good and gives a solid grit to it and adds texture to your works. How do you do that?

99% of what I post here is all digital because I don’t really have access to a scanner very often! my inking style looks the way it does because I draw traditionally in my sketchbooks a LOT and the way I ink digitally is Exactly The Same as I do traditionally (which is why you see a lot of double lines in my inking, stray lines, or scribbling when I fill in solid blacks without the fill tool, I also always turn off any stabilization features a brush might have bc I don’t like the way it feels) and I often go looking for brushes that are gritty or crunchy so that it looks similar to the pens I use on paper!

You can see a bunch of the stray lines and general scribbling I did here, which is exactly what my irl sketchbooks look like, and the circled brushes (I edited these after I downloaded them all to have 0 stabilization) are the ones I used for it!

the scoundrel's baseline opinion of stones is the same as every other master, that being "epic cool infallible guy i need to earn the respect and/or admiration of at every possible opportunity in order to feel fulfilled in life"

however. she is not immune to master beefing. and stones is one of the masters she beefs with!! it's very occasional because she's a sycophant and desperately fawns whenever any spacebat gets a little too upset at her but the scoundrel is at heart a greedy little creature who loves shiny jewelry and money and valuable things in general and. well. for obvious reasons Mr Hoarding Values Georg has more than a few problems with that. most of their interactions end up being fleeting at best and uncomfortable at worst. she admires it, but she also tends to find it akin to a pest more often than not. she just wants to deck out her mastersona in pretty shiny things, is that really such a crime (yes. yes it is.)

did they take the same exam? did 20 year old Edgeworth drive his tween prodigy sister to take the bar exam with him? and before that, did he drive her to the same law school they both went to every day? did they compete to see who would pass the bar first? and when they both passed and tied, Franziska definitely still held the fact that she got it at 13 over him. "What were you doing at 13, little brother? Not passing the bar, ha, embarrassing." wtf are the implications of this
